This short summer residential retreat is designed to support those who would like to attend a silent retreat, those who have never attended a retreat before, and those who have a requirement, as a mindfulness teacher, to attend a short retreat annually. The program will include concentration, insight and loving kindness practices as well as yoga and mindful walking. There will also be lectures and discussions on aspects of Buddhist psychology which directly support our practice and teaching of mindfulness.
Reservation priority will be given to those who wish to attend all 5 days of the retreat. However, if you are limited to a shorter duration of 3 days, please advise us on your booking application.
Dates: Wednesday 29th July 12 noon to Sunday 2nd August 4 pm

We will begin the silent retreat at noon on Wednesday July 29 and would like all retreatants to arrive before noon.
For those wishing assistance in traveling to the retreat by bus on Wednesday 29th July, we will meet at Tung Chung Bus Terminus Bus Stop #23 at 9:00am to take the 9:10 bus and then walk together to Fa Hong Monastery.
For those arriving later, for your information, on arrival at Tung Chung, you can either take a public bus to Ngong Ping (approx. journey time 35 mins.) followed by a walk of about 50 mins. OR a taxi to Ngong Ping East Gate followed by a walk of about 40 mins. If you have not visited Fa Hong Monastery before, you may find it difficult to locate in the dark, so I would recommend you plan to arrive at Tung Chung no later than 4:30pm.
Please see Fa Hong Monastery website (scroll down the page) for more details. There is basic bedding and traditional Chinese meditation cushions, however, if you prefer to use your own sleeping bag, special meditation cushion or bench you may wish to bring this. Also, remember it is a few degrees colder on the top of the mountain, which may be welcome in July.
There is airconditioning in the meditation hall and most of the accommodation rooms.
We will be providing three home-cooked vegetarian meals a day. If you have a health condition which necessitates a special diet please let us know when booking.
